Fixing the Cause, Not Just the Surface
Turf repair and replacement covers synthetic grass that has started to fail: seams pulling apart, edges curling up, wrinkles, soft or sunken spots, puddles after storms, pet odor that will not rinse out, or blades that have faded and flattened. In Orlando, most of these problems trace back to the base, the seams or the drainage, not the turf itself. A patch that does not address the cause tends to fail again in the next wet season.
Common problems we see
- Split or visible seams: often from poor gluing, thin seam tape or a base that moved
- Lifted or curling edges: missing or loose fasteners, or edges laid on soft sand
- Wrinkles and ripples: turf that expanded in heat and was not stretched and secured properly
- Sinking spots: old grass or roots left underneath, or a base that was not compacted
- Pooling water: a flat or dished grade, or a dense, non-porous base
- Pet odor: urine trapped in the base or backing with too little drainage
Why Orlando conditions expose bad installs
Orlando averages about 51 inches of rain a year, most of it from June through September. A base that cannot drain turns soft during that season, and loose sand under it shifts. Strong sun and high surface heat also make turf expand and contract, which works on weak seams and loose edges. If your turf looked fine for a year and then failed in the summer, the wet season is usually what revealed the problem.
How we repair
We start by lifting the turf in the problem area to look at the base. Seam repairs mean cutting back to clean edges, new seam tape and adhesive, and re-securing. For sunken areas and puddles, we pull the turf back, remove soft material, rebuild and compact the base, correct the grade and relay the turf. Odor problems can mean flushing and treating the area, changing the infill, or rebuilding the base under a pet zone.
When replacement makes more sense
If the turf is brittle, badly faded, matted flat across the lawn, or the base is failing in many places, replacing the whole system is often the better value. We remove the old turf, dispose of it, rebuild the base to drain properly and install new turf. Florida DEP's rulemaking materials call for residential turf that can be disposed of at a Florida landfill, and old turf is hauled away as part of the job.
Infill top-ups and refreshes
Some turf just needs maintenance: infill washed away by storms, blades matted by traffic, debris built up in the fibers. A power-brush and infill top-up can bring it back. Angi lists infill at about $0.30 to $1.75 per pound and routine maintenance at roughly $0.25 to $0.35 per square foot.

Turf Repair & Replacement Questions
Why is my artificial turf holding water?
Usually the grade is flat or dished, the base is too dense to drain, or the backing is clogged. We lift the turf, check the base and correct the grade so water passes through.
Can you repair turf someone else installed?
Yes. We inspect it, find the cause of the problem and quote the repair or replacement. Having the product name helps if we need to match turf for a patch.
How do I get rid of pet odor in artificial turf?
Rinse often and use an enzyme cleaner. If odor persists, urine is likely trapped in the base or backing; changing the infill or rebuilding the base under the pet area fixes it.
Should I repair or replace my turf?
Repair if the problem is local and the turf is in good shape. Replace if the blades are brittle, faded or matted throughout, or the base is failing in many places. We give you both prices when it is close.
