Turf That Respects the Plan
Artificial turf in Celebration starts with the community's design, not the product catalog. Celebration was established in 1994 and originally developed by the Walt Disney Company, and Wikipedia describes it as planned in an early 20th-century architectural style, with design guidelines written by Urban Design Associates as an architectural pattern book. In a place built that deliberately, a lawn has to look like it belongs. Our job is to make turf that does.
Where turf fits best here
Celebration is not zoned for high-density residences, and in a town planned around early 20th-century styles, the street-facing yard is part of the overall look. The private space behind the house is usually where turf earns its keep: a small back lawn that stays green, a dog run beside the garage or a short putting green off the patio. Florida's section 720.3045 limits HOAs from restricting artificial turf in areas not visible from the frontage or an adjacent parcel, which often covers exactly those spaces.
Getting through design review
Front yards are a different matter. The state's 2025 synthetic turf rule, created under HB 683 and section 125.572(3), restrains local governments, but DEP's FAQ is clear that it does not address HOA requirements, deed restrictions or other private agreements. Anything visible from the street in Celebration should go through the community's review process first. Celebration also has a community development district, and section 125.572 says its local-government limits do not apply to a CDD's rules or policies that enforce deed restrictions, so the community's own standards carry real weight here. We help by providing:
- Physical samples of two or three blade colors and heights
- Manufacturer spec sheets covering materials and drainage
- A simple site sketch showing turf area, edging and plant beds
Once approved, we schedule and build to the approved plan.
A town known for its landscape
The community's parks, trails and pathways were designed by the firm EDAW, and Celebration has more than 23 miles of nature trails. Celebration Boulevard is lined with two rows of Washington palms. Turf here should complement that setting: natural color blends with tan thatch fibers, low sheen, and planted borders rather than turf running fence to fence.
Watering here follows South Florida rules
On the St. Johns River Water Management District's map, Osceola County is shaded as South Florida Water Management District territory. SFWMD's year-round rules ban landscape watering from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and limit it to two or three days a week depending on the area; SFWMD points owners to their local ordinance for the exact days. Turf areas need none of that, and the irrigation zones serving them can be capped or reworked to feed beds and shrubs.
Putting greens and play spaces
Backyard putting greens are a popular way to use a small rear lawn. We build greens with a firm, smooth surface, a fringe of longer turf and cups placed to use your yard's shape. For families, we install play-area turf over a cushioning pad under swings and climbers.

Celebration Questions
Do I need approval to install turf in Celebration?
For anything visible from the street, plan on it. The state turf rule does not override HOA or deed restrictions. Back yards not visible from the frontage or a neighbor's parcel are generally protected under section 720.3045. We supply samples and specs for your application.
Which turf looks most natural next to Celebration's lawns and palms?
A multi-tone green blade with a tan thatch layer and a matte finish. Very bright, uniform turf stands out in a pattern-book neighborhood. We bring samples so you can see them in your own light.
Can you build a putting green in a small Celebration backyard?
Yes. Even a compact green with two or three cups works well. We shape it to the yard, add a fringe and keep drainage moving away from the house.
What watering rules apply in Celebration?
Osceola County falls under the South Florida Water Management District, which bans landscape watering between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and limits it to two or three days a week by area. Turf areas need no irrigation, so those zones can be capped.
